HyerWise respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we protect it, and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and related regulations issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

1. Who we are

HyerWise operates an online marketplace connecting customers with independent service pros in Lagos and Abuja. For the purposes of the NDPA, HyerWise is the data controller of personal data collected through this website.

2. Data we collect

Customers

  • First name, phone number and email address.
  • Job requests: service needed, description, city and area, budget and preferred date.
  • Messages with pros, and reviews and ratings you leave.

Pros

  • Name, business name, phone and WhatsApp number, email, address and areas served.
  • Service category, pricing, availability, job photos, social media link and optional CAC registration number.
  • National Identification Number (NIN) document, used only for an identity check (see section 5).

Everyone

  • Messages sent through our contact form.
  • Basic technical data such as device, browser and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and working.

3. Why we use your data (lawful basis)

  • Contract: to create your account, send your requests to pros and enable messaging.
  • Consent: given when you sign up and tick the Terms and Privacy box. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: to prevent fraud, keep the platform safe and improve our services.
  • Legal obligation: where Nigerian law requires us to keep or share information.

4. What others can see

Customers can see a pro's public profile: first or business name, service, areas served, prices, availability, photos and reviews. We do not show a pro's personal phone number, street address, last name, CAC number or ID documents publicly. Pros only see customer details you share in a request or message.

5. Identity documents (NIN)

NIN documents are stored in private, restricted storage. Only authorised HyerWise administrators can view them, through short-lived secure links. Documents are deleted once the review is complete and are never shown to customers or shared with third parties, except where required by law.

6. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • The customer or pro you choose to contact, to arrange your job.
  • Trusted service providers (such as hosting, database and email services) who process data for us under confidentiality obligations.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where required by Nigerian law.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers may store data outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection as required by the NDPA.

8. How long we keep data

We keep account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax or dispute needs. NIN documents are deleted after review. You may ask us to delete your account at any time.

9. Security

We use access controls, encrypted connections and restricted storage to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify the NDPC and affected users of a serious data breach as required by law.

10. Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your data is used.
  • Access a copy of your personal data.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Ask us to delete your data.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

11. Children

HyerWise is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

12. Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use them to sell advertising.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with its date.
